In honor of this year’s World Plus Size Day, which was marked with a health walk from Ayi Mensah to Peduase on the 7th October, Plus and Proud Africa, an anti-body shaming group, pulled out all the stops with a spectacular celebration.
They organized a “Plus Bikini” Pool Party, held at De Cove, inside East Legon, over the weekend. The event drew influential plus-size women not only from Ghana but also from Nigeria and other neighboring African countries, as the club extends its empowering message far beyond Ghana’s borders.
The Plus and Proud “Plus Bikini” pool party was a day to remember, filled with an array of exciting events designed to celebrate body positivity. Attendees enjoyed pool aerobics, a spirited game of Musical chairs, a thrilling swimming competition, and, of course, delectable food and lively music. The atmosphere was one of joy, empowerment, and celebration.
The Founder of the Plus and Proud Africa, Miz Debbie, made a promise to its members and all those in attendance. They pledged that every October 6th, the day designated to celebrate plus-size individuals on World Plus Size Day, would be marked with an unforgettable event. This commitment reflects the organization’s dedication to promoting body positivity, self-acceptance, and the empowerment of plus-size individuals.
The Plus n’ Proud club’s “Plus Bikini” Pool Party not only celebrated plus-size individuals but also aimed to combat body shaming and promote self-acceptance. By providing a platform for plus-size individuals to come together, enjoy themselves, and share their experiences, the event contributed to fostering a supportive and empowering community.
As the Plus and Proud Africa continues to grow and inspire individuals across borders, their commitment to marking World Plus Size Day with an annual event is a promising step forward. With each passing year, these celebrations offer an opportunity for more people to join the movement, celebrate their bodies, and work toward a more inclusive and accepting society.
In conclusion, the “Plus Bikini” Pool Party organized by the Plus and Proud Africa was a resounding success, not only in Ghana but across African borders.
This event emphasized the importance of celebrating body positivity, self-acceptance, and the empowerment of plus-size individuals, while also demonstrating the club’s commitment to making each World Plus Size Day a memorable and impactful occasion.
